Every experience we have is a sensory experience but while we may have smelt grass before or seen the sunrise for a new born baby almost everything is a new experience. For them they are growing at the fastest they will ever grow at. Their brain is developing at an incredible rate not only increasing in the number of sells but also how the cells interact. It is these sensory experiences that help a baby’s brain to form.
Everything a baby sees, hears, touches, smells and tastes help to form the brain. The baby’s brain is receiving millions or messages telling it new things every day. These all help to create links in the brain between cells increasing its abilities. It is thought that the early years of a baby’s life are the most important with regards to intelligence making how you play with them vital.
So if you have a new born baby one of the best things you can do is give it as many sensory experiences as you can to aid their brains development. One day when they are getting A’s at school it could be down to their early brain development. So get going with different games to stimulate their senses but remember make them fun or your baby will not want to know.
